With an easy point-and-click interface you can find the elevation of any place on the earth. You can find the height above sea level of cities, mountains, roads, seabed or any other place.
Altitude.nu is a good replacement for elevation maps and topographic maps. The saving function makes it easy to share your elevation maps with others in forum posts or blog post.
The accuracy is mostly very good but can be limited in areas where the elevation change very rapidly, for exampel at mountains peaks.
In the help section you will find instructions how this service is used.
Some well known (or at least intresting in the sense of elevation) places are linked from the known places section.
